The history of the place
Somdet Phra Sri Nagarindra The Princess Mother Memorial Park

Nearly 100 years ago, a young girl who was then daughter of a goldsmith, but would later be Her Royal Highness Sri Nagarindra the Princess Mother lived in a small rented house behind Wat Anongkaram. This was the first home that she could remember, and a school near Wat Anongkaram was the first school she attended. Her Royal Highness Sri Nagarindra the Princess Mother, who was affectionately called “Princess Grandmother” of the Thai people, remembered in great detail this simple home in a mixed community of several ethnic groups and religious faiths. Her son, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, wanted to honor his mother on her eighth 12 year cycle (96th) birthday by preserving her childhood home; but unfortunately the house had long age been turn down. Luckily, when Mr.Daeng and Mr. Lek Nana learned of the search for the house, they donated a 4 rai (0.64ha) plot near the original home.

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej decided in 1993 to renovate this plot, once the home of Chao Phraya Sriphiphat Rattanarajakosathibode (Pae Bunnag), Director General of the Royal Cargo Department during the reign of His Majesty King Rama V, to be the Somdet Phra Sri Nagarindra The Princess Mother Memorial Park.

One of the older buildings, from the time of His Majesty King Rama III, has been converted into a museum on the life and work of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother and on the neighborhood where she first grew up. A replica has also been built of her original childhood house, while the grounds have been developed as a community park where a variety of activities are held for people of all ages of the neighborhood and other visitors.

Today Bankok Travel takes you to Prestigious Train Hall located in Chatujak garden. You can travel to there easily by many numbers of regular buses and air-conditioned ones such as number 44, 8, 145, air-conditioned number 27, and 502 from Ladphrao road. You can also travel there by the regular buses number 28, from Central plaza of Ladphrao branch.

The former old building of state railway of Thailand, it was built about 30 years ago, to keep king Rama VII’s royal trains and the locomotives of historical significance. Later, it was renovated and converted to The Prestigious Train Hall in order to be a place of display and conservation of railway-related stories. Inside the hall, there are displays of steam driven locomotive, Hansley diesel locomotive, Japanese army’s patrol van since world war II, an imitative model of Thailand’s first aircraft carrier warship Chakkri Naruebet, antique car Fiat Polino, and the carcass of two engine airplane of Japanese army in world war II, which were quite significant to the Thai railway history.

Located away from downtown area of Bangkok, Prawet Burirom canal and fish garden are suitable for one who would love the real natural sightseeing. You can also visit Lanbun Temple at the same time because these three places compose the one tourist attraction




This place is located on Ladkrabang road. You can travel to the place easily by a regular bus number 1013 running between LadKrabang and Phrakhanong.



The place also near Suvannaphoom airport, it takes about only few minutes to reach this place. You will enjoy feeding fish and can take some photos.



The History of Prawet Burirom canal

After the canal construction bill being promulgated in 1877, King Rama V had ordered to dig the extension part of Khlong Phra Khanong to join Khlong Dan and link with Bang Pakong river of Chachoengsao province. The dug canal was called Khlong Prawet Burirom. Besides, the canal was also dug 4 extened branches, totaling a distance of 46 kilometres. Phraya ratchaphonlankhan was appointed as chief of the project while Chao Phraya Surawong Waiyawat was project director. The excavation work took 3 years to finish. The man-made canal could not only help facilitating water transportation between Samut Prakan province and Chachoengsao province to a great extent, but also opening new cultivation areas along both sides of the canal.

Here is Water Park of Serithai. It is located on Serithai Road being a historical road was based on The World War II.

The Park consists of a water park, a small library, and an open-air fitness club.

About 5 kilometers east of The MALL Bangkapi Department Store, east of heart of Bangkok, and the park is in front of Buengkum district. It is quite big and looks wonderful because the land of the park is divided into two parts by a long swamp. The swamp lies and curves between two parts of the land throughout the park.


At the first part of the swamp, there is the semi -wooden bridge across it which looks like the river. But the water in the swamp is calm. Some fountains were set in the middle and the other parts of the swamp.

There are also concrete bridges across the other parts of the swamp. Whereas two parts of the park are full of various trees, bushes, and flowering trees. In the water, abounds with kinds of fishes such as dace, cat fish, snakehead and etc. You can enjoy feeding them. Especially in the evening they can be seen a lot.



You can travel to this park at any time in your convenience. However if you would like to take exercise, both in the morning and evening are ok. But if you need to relax yourself, in the early afternoon is better.

Located far from downtown area , Serithai Park is a good atmosphere one in Bangkok. You can travel to the park in your own car or by bus. Take the regular bus number 27, 151 or air-conditioned bus number 27, 502 in front of The Mall Bangkapi and then get out off at Buengkum District, left side. You can drive in your own car from The Mall Bangkapi to the park easily, because you can do on direct road until get to the park. It takes you about ten minutes to reach there.

Located around the area of historical and official places of Bangkok of Thailand, Saranrom garden is one of the famous ones that most tourists both Thais and foreigners don’t miss visitting it.




Saranrom Royal Garden is part of Saranrom Palace which was built in 1866 by King Mongkut’s command as his residence after his abdication. However, its construction was completed in the reign of King Chulalongkorn and was used as a palace where the king’s younger brothers stayed temporarily before they moved to their own palaces. Later this place was modified and assigned for the reception of royal guests during their visits to Thailand. Saranrom Royal Garden was decorated with flowering plants, shrubs and perennials, a glass house a gazebo for growing orchids, a pond, a Chinese styled pavilion, cages of different kinds of animals and also a pond of crocodiles.






During the reign of king Vajiravudh, this Royal Garden became a source of culture and also a center of innovations since a defense training center for royal household, a westernized club named “ Thavipanya Samoson” and a theatre were all situated here. Moreover, it was a place where festive celebrations were held occasionally. After the political change from absolute monarchy to democracy in 1932 in the reign of King Prajadhipok, the club of the people’s party named “ Samoson Khanaratsaranrom” was established here. Later on, Vajiravudh Alumni’s Association and Department of Public Welfare had their offices located in this Royal Garden.




On June 3, 1960, the cabinet passed a resolution to entrust Saranrom Royal Garden under the care of Bangkok Metropolitan. Since then, it has been rehabilitated as a public park.

Mahakan Fort

Mahakan Fort is a big octagonal-shaped fort. Its width measured from the outside base from north to south is 38 metres. Its height from ground to top of the battlements(Bai Sema) is 4.9 metres and from the ground to the roof is 35 metres. The structure is made from bricks coated with cement. The base of the structure is under the ground. The fort has three floors of which there are staircases leading to the first and the second floor. All of walls are decorated designs in the shape of big anglular battlements. The highest floor of the fort is an octagonal-shaped tower with one entrance. The roof’s frames are made of wood, and the roof covered with the two-tiered tiles, its shaped like cone-shaped lid or like inverted lotus leave. At the ground floor, 6 cannons are located in Sema(battlements) cavities.



The fine arts department registered the fort as the national ancient monument in 1949. In the period that field Marshal Sarit Thanarat was the prime minister, lights were installed to make the fort attractive at night. During the reign of king Rama IX, a picture of The Mahakan fort had been printed in the 10 baht banknote for a while. In 1982 the fine arts department renovated the dilapidated part of the fort and painted it many times because the fort is located in community area. So, the leaders of the foreign countries, the official foreign visitors, including many travelers from all parts of the world always visit the fort.

Wat Srakesa is one of the most important monasteries in Thailand’s modern history. According to the Royal Chroicle of Ratanakosin Era, King Rama I, the founder of the Royal House of Chakri and the builder of Thailand’s new capital, Bangkok, had performed the Royal bathing ritual at Wat Srakesa in 1782 after which he officially established himself the Kingdom’s new ruler. Since then, Wat Srakesa(thanks to its historical significance) has continued to receive Royal sponsorship and support, including the construction of all religious buildings and the monks’ living quarters as well as the periodical restoration projects. Wat Srakesa has also been promoted by Royal decree as a second-rank Royal monastery.

A Chronological Record on construction of the Golden Mount, in the Royal Chronicle of King Rama III Chao Phraya Thiphakornwongse writes on record that His Majesty the king appointed phraya Sriphiphatratanarajakosa a commanding officer to construct a great Prang (Pagoda),50 fathoms in dimension. Further, when the king went to offer Kathina Robes to the monks at this temple, he asked for donation of timber logs for laying down as its foundation member of royal family, noblemen and government officials who accompanied him. It is said that several thousand of logs were therein buried in manner of raft







From the above record we learn that King Rama III ordered the construction of the Golden Mount and King Rama IV and V continued to its completion as it appears today. Therefore the Golden Mount is the most precious property of Wat Srakes and also of the Thai
