The Brief History of Sala Chaloem Krung Theatre in Bangkok Thailand

King Rama VII had the theatre built as movie and play theatre, to commemorate 150th anniversary of Bangkok in 1932, and then named it Sala Chaloem Krung. The theatre was the first of its kind in East Asia to have air-conditioning system that made it the most modern theatre at that time. The first play was performed on July 2, 1933 and after that it had been used mainly for movie show until it was closed for total renovation in 1968. The renovated theatre is now used for live performances like Thai classical play and sometimes movie show.

Wat Yannawa in Bangkok of Thailand (Yannawa Temple)

This temple is an old one dating back to the Ayutthaya period; the founder is unknown, commonly called Wat Khok Khwaj (stable for buffaloes). King Rama I renamed the temple Wat Khok Krabue (stable for buffaloes) and made it a royal temple. In the reign of king Rama III, trade connection with China was bloomed and the Chinese junks were used to carry all kinds of cargo, with concern of the vanishing of this junk, king Rama III ordered to build a monument by imitating Chinese junk. The monument was made of reinforced concrete with two Chedis as substitute of poles. The king then named the temple Wat yannawa meaning temple of junk, this monument is called Samphao Chedi (junk and Chedi) with the total length of 21 Wa and 2 Sok(about 43 meters) and it is the only one of the stylistic junk in Thailand.

The Brief History of The City Pillar Shrine in Bangkok of Thailand

In the reign of H.M. Somdet Phra Phuttha Yotfa Chulalok the great, king Rama I was invited to ascend the throne to be the first king of the Chakri dynasty, he moved the capital from Thon Buri to Bangkok and ordered the installation of the city pillar on April 21, 1782.

The pillar was made of the trunk of Chaiya Phruek tree (Laburnum), and stands 108 inches above the ground level and 79 inches under the ground level. The horoscope of the city is placed inside. The old city pillar was replaced with a new one in the reign of king Rama IV. King Rama IV was specialized in astrology and horoscopes, so he adjusted the horoscope of the city by holding a religious ritual in the Ubosoth of Wat Phra Sri Rattanasatsadaram, to inscribe the horoscope of the city on a gold plate of 1 Baht (15.2 grams) in weight, and he also ordered to build a new shrine as the top of a prang as at a pavilion in Ayuthaya. The horoscope of the city was then put in the city pillar and a ceremony was organized to celebrate it.

The guardian spirits who protect the city, and are enshrined in the city pillar shrine, in the past there were only three: Phra Sua Mueang, Phra Song Mueang, and Phra Lak Mueang. Later, king Rama V added Phra Siam Thewathirat in the area of the city pillar shrine.

Old Buildings in Tha Tian Area in Bangkok of Thailand

The Brief History of the tourist attraction
Buildings on Maharat road were built in the reign of King Rama V and King Rama VI. The buildings start from Tha Tian market to Tha Tian pier. The two stories European style building with the columns separate each unit and the decoration on the windows arch are in form of block with the wood perforated over the window panels. The three entrances of the market, the upper floor has a western style pediment with beautiful stucco, the lower floor has an arch with round pillars on both side. These buildings used to be shops where drug and herbs were sold.

The Brief History of King Pinklao of Thailand

King Pinnklao was born to King Rama II of the Chakri dynasty and Quee Sisuriyenthra on Sunday 4th September, 1808. He was the younger brother of King Mongkut or King Rama IV who invested him as the Second King in 1851.

King Pinklao was highly competent in both domestic and foreign affairs. He was appointed as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy. His English proficiency and his skill in mechanics and artillery were recognized as well. Interestingly, he wrote a text on artillery. Apart from military weaponry for national defense, he built two war steamers, namely the Asawadirot and the Yougyot Ayotchiya as protection for the Kingdom. King Pinklao passed away on Sunday 7th January, 1865
